Alright, it’s time for Maya’s Michelin Picks!
For those who are new here, Maya’s Michelin is a segment where I, Maya, use contributions from my lovely listeners through Voicy’s support feature, SASHIIRE, to explore and share delicious food! Usually, I introduce my favorite spots around Hayama, where I live, but from time to time, I feature tasty finds from my travels as well.

So, where did I go this time? I visited Hadano City in Kanagawa! Hadano is famous for having Japan’s purest natural spring water, WAKIMIZU, but that’s not what I was after. My destination? A charming old café with a unique twist!

Fully family-run
A 78-year-old gentleman single-handedly cooks all the food AND designs the entire interior!
His wife manages the service—straightforward yet wonderfully warm!
And let’s talk about the food! This place is home to some truly creative dishes: A thick-cut toast, hollowed out and filled with spaghetti, topped with cheese, and baked into a mouthwatering mix gratin (グラタン！)—you HAVE to try it! Their signature dish since the café’s opening: a rich tomato-based pasta topped with a giant, juicy hamburger patty—the Ketchup Burger Pasta! All their juices are freshly squeezed on the spot!
Not only do the dishes look incredible, but they taste amazing too! The owner, once again a 78-year-old gentleman, who worked in Western cuisine for years, puts great care into every bite. And let me tell you—the charcoal-roasted coffee was absolutely divine! I loved it so much that I even bought some beans to take home!
Now, here’s a funny moment: our home is about an hour and a half away from the café, so it’s quite far, but as soon as we got back to the car, my husband immediately added this place to our GPS “Favorites.” He’s already planning to become a regular! And honestly… I totally agree with him!
There are still so many things I want to try—pancakes, parfaits, sandwiches, omlet-rice… I need to go back again and again! Can’t wait for my next visit!
