Fifty years ago, on October 24th, 1975, 90% of Icelandic women stopped working—both at home and in the workplace—to show how essential women’s labor truly is.

In this episode, I talk about the story behind that day, the song “Áfram stelpur” (“Forward, Women!”), and the new documentary The Day Iceland Stood Still, directed by Pamela Hogan and released in Japan by Kinologue, run by Utako Morishita.
