【Introduction】
Hello, this is the stage director backstage.
【Today's Talk】
Today's theme is "motivation."
Why this theme? Well, to be honest, I'm feeling a bit down today, so I thought I'd talk about how to boost motivation.
【Content】
To cut to the chase, do what you can do now.
Uh, I have no motivation.
Or rather, my motivation has been drained.
It's not because it's hot or because I'm feeling unwell.
My spirit was simply broken.
These things happen occasionally.
There are many reasons, but this time, an important job fell through.
Talking about stage work is usually exciting.
Especially when creating a new work or taking on a new challenge, lots of preparation goes into it.
This time, I've been researching a particular writer for many years.
But it seems like the timing is off, and it's likely to fall through now.
I'm really down.
It's like it's vanishing into thin air.
Well, in the entertainment world, there's a mix of politics and luck, and this time I lost out to those factors.
The important thing is how quickly you can bounce back from this setback.
This morning, I found a few things that were effective:
- Voicy
- Habits keep unnecessary thoughts away, and speaking makes you more positive.
- Books
- Any philosophy can be seen as support for your own thoughts. I'm reading a book by director Nicholas Hytner and seeing that even the masters had similar experiences is encouraging.
- Creating Proposals
- If you lost with a proposal, you can only win with another one. I thought of a project to perform with a particular actress!
On the other hand, things that were pointless and escapist when lacking motivation:
- YouTube
- Nothing changes in reality.
- Social Media
- Everything looks stressful.
- Musical Instruments and Exercise
- When things don't go well, you feel down. I felt miserable thinking, "I can't even play this chord."
Interestingly, I found that focusing on instruments or exercise for long periods made me unable to concentrate and face myself.
And back to Voicy, I'm really grateful for it.
Before starting to write this, I was extremely depressed.
But as I put my thoughts into words, I felt like I was being cleansed.
By articulating them, I felt like I was solidifying my own thoughts, and I can say that Voicy saved me today.
Before recording this Voicy, I was thinking about calling in sick, but that thought disappeared.
When you're betrayed or unlucky, it's just a sign that your skills aren't enough yet.
Recognize that and move forward.
It might have turned into a very positive broadcast compared to the beginning.
I might have recorded an interesting moment of changing from being down to being positive.
【Summary】
To reiterate, do what you can do now.
What about you? How do you get over a slump? Please leave a comment!
That's all for today.
If you resonated with or enjoyed today's broadcast, please leave a comment or follow!
This was Backstage, thank you!
