1990年代後半から急増したと言われる逆流性食道炎(広い括りでは胃食道逆流症(GERD)ピロリ菌感染者減少により胃酸の分泌が増した側面も大きい。食生活では「下部食道括約筋のゆるみ」「胃酸の過剰分泌」「腹圧の上昇」の観点で整理すると腑に落ちやすい気がします。

便秘や猫背(前かがみの姿勢)も腹部を圧迫するのでリスクになるという言及も多いようです。他にも睡眠との関連(睡眠時間と逆流性食道炎が双方向に関連)や水(胃液を薄める。特に寝る前)/なお牛乳についても良いとする言及も見られましたが意見が分かれる印象です。
